Photo of the Week: Alpsee Lake, Germany

No trip to Bavaria is complete without a visit to Alpsee Lake. Just four kilometres southeast of Füssen, Alpsee Lake sits nestled between wooded mountain slopes, in an area so beautiful that Bavarian kings chose to build their romantic castles here.
A boat ride on the lake offers splendid views of Neuschwanstein and Hohenshwangau castles, as well as the Bavarian Alps.
A hiking path circles around the five kilometre lakeshore and the “Fürstenstrasse”, or Princes’ Road, leads from Hohenschwangau down to the Austrian Alpine village of Pinswang. When you go hiking around Alpsee you really are following in the footsteps of royals!
