We found ourselves in Santiago, Chile more out of necessity than any real desire.
We were going to Easter Island for a few days and Santiago is one of only two places you can fly there from. Since we were passing through, we decided we should spend at least one day in Santiago exploring the city. Even though a place may not interest me initially, I still want to discover what it’s all about if I’m in the area.
So, with no real plan and only 24 hours to spare, we decided to go on a free walking tour of Santiago to get to know the city.
The tour started at Plaza de Armas, Santiago’s main square, and continued through the heart of the city. We passed by government buildings, opera houses and museums, then wandered through parks and into colourful neighbourhoods.
Even though we didn’t fall in love with the city, and some of the places we wanted to visit were closed due to strike, we still really enjoyed our walking tour of Santiago and later had a pleasant afternoon exploring on our own.
Here’s a look at what we saw during our walk around Santiago!
